Established in September  2003,  “AtaHolding”  was the first to bring a culture of holding management to Azerbaijan and to organize it in accordance with modern management standards. Initially, holding  started  in the finance  sector,  after a short period of time it  penetrated other  sectors of the economy.  The holding started  to expand and  set  up industrial,  tourism,  IT,  and  service companies.  “AtaHolding"   makes investments in different fields of economic activity, manages financial and intellectual resources and acts in compliance with corporate governance.
     Financial sector of  “AtaHolding”  is presented by “AtaBank” OJSC, “AtaInsurance” OJSC, “AtaLeasing” OJSC, tourism sector is presented by “AtaTourism” LLC, “AtaTravel” LLC,  5 star “Excelsior Hotel Baku”; industry sector is presented by “Shamkir Poultry” LLC and Information Technology sector is presented by “AtaTechnology”. In 2008 “AtaHolding”  became  a  48,99% shareholder in VTB Bank in Azerbaijan opened by one of the largest financial groups of Russia-  VTB Group.  
        Activities of all enterprises within "AtaHolding" group of companies are built on the principles of high professionalism, application of new technologies and corporate governance.  Audit of  financial statements of  “AtaHolding”  and its enterprises is being held by International Audit company.  Consolidation report of the holding was prepared according to the International Financial Reporting Standards and audited by International Audit company. "AtaHolding" organized its book-keeping in accordance with International Audit standards thereby ensured the transparency of "AtaHolding"   functioning.  
     The purpose of the holding is to support Azerbaijan’s welfare and economic development by effective use Azerbaijan’s physical and intellectual resources, by investing into creation of new jobs, ensuring customer satisfaction and protecting interests of shareholders and employees. "AtaHolding" closely participates in social programs, charity events, supports projects on development of culture, art and increasing the level of education.  “AtaHolding”  sponsors international federations and international competitions. “AtaHolding”   is the main sponsor of the International Federation of Wrestling, and one of the sponsors for the International Hockey Federation. Currently  “AtaHolding”    had several long-term  sponsorship  contracts.
